A 5k in Prospect Park and running on my own in Central Park
Week 5, Days 2, 3, and 4 of NYC Marathon Training: Nothing on Day 2, a 5K on Day 3, and 4.34 miles on Day 4
This summer has been the worst with the heat. I have really been struggling with it. I did run a 5K in Prospect Park as part of the Prospect Park Track Club Al Goldstein Summer Speed Series last Wednesday (August 3) and was just happy to finish.
The day before, I didn't work out at all. Instead, I met up with an old friend I hadn't seen in decades. As some of you may remember, I went to college at the University of Texas at Austin. And I was very close with my friend Mike. I hadn't seen him in decades until last week. We met up in lower Manhattan at O'Hara's and it was great to see him again!
On Thursday, I went to Rosa Mexicano for a drink with Cole my co-worker. He was interviewing me for a workplace social media project.
Then I went to Central Park to take my first New York Road Runners class of the summer. It was Week 3 in the series. I had missed Week 1 because the class was cancelled due to heat. And I had apartment plumbing problems on Week 2.
Unfortunately, I ended up missing Week 3 as well. The group is now meeting at a slightly different location in Central Park and I totally missed seeing them! So I ran by myself for an hour. Oh well. At least I can make up the classes I missed!
