Doing Ironstrength on The Intrepid
Week 2, Day 1 of NYC Marathon Training: IronStrength and 305 Fitness, 45 minutes on the Peloton, and strength training
For many years now, I have been going to the free fitness events Dr. Jordan Metzl hosts in the city. The Ironstrength fitness program is designed for runners. Plus, he usually has a fitness studio teach a class as well as part of the event. (BTW, Dr. Metzl is my sports medicine physician. I highly recommend him!)
Anyhow, on Monday night, I went to his latest event, which was held on The Intrepid, the former military ship. The weather was amazing and so was the 305 Fitness dance class, the Ironstrength stuff, and free alcohol-free beer from The Athletic Brewing Company and smoothies from Koia.
It is so energizing to do these classes at such an amazing location. Whenever I have the opportunity to do something like this, it reminds me how great it is to live in New York City!
For Monday, I also went to gym and did strength training. And I did a 45-minute Peloton bike ride with Alex Toussaint, one of my favorite instructors. (He always gets me in a great frame of mind!)
As Alex would say, “You’re not smiling? Fix your face. You woke up!” Good motivation to get me through another day of marathon training!
