Three boroughs of long runs, training, and a race
Week 6, Day 7 and Week 7, Days 1, 2, and 3,of NYC Marathon Training: A total of 16.77 miles for a long run on Sunday, 4.01 miles on Monday, 4.34 miles on Tuesday, and a 5K on Wednesday
Life comes at you fast. I haven’t written about my NYC Marathon training in weeks, thanks to a very busy work life, with both my main job and many side hustles. But I wanted to make sure and document everything of this marathon training season, so this is my first catchup blog post!
On Sunday, August 14, I decided to mix it up a bit with my training and see if I could reach the Bronx from the bottom tip of Manhattan in one run. So after a .69 mile run to catch the express bus to Manhattan, I ran from Battery Park via the Hudson River Park, then all the way up to the Bronx, running a total of 16.08 miles.
On the way, I passed the George Washington Bridge, as you can see in the pic below.
I also ran on Monday night on my own on Staten Island, then took a New York Road Runners Turnover Tuesday training class the next day.
On that Wednesday, I completed the seventh and last run in the Prospect Park Track Club Al Goldstein Summer Speed Series and got this nifty medal for doing so. My 5k time was 41:43 — still pretty slow, but the best I ran that series this summer!
